The Importance of Marketing Communication
Marketing communication is key to business, it’s how you get your business in front of a buying audience, who may pass on their great service to colleagues, friends and family.
It’s a chain reaction. If something is done well, people will talk about it. If it’s not, this could create a risk to your business reputation.
The importance of communication relies on where, how, when and who. It’s not a ‘one size fits all’ model, each business is unique in its requirements to reach its audience.
Let’s explore a little more.
How to find new customers
Many people will automatically assume two things are needed for business.
Social media marketing and a website.
However, this isn’t the case for everyone.
Social media gives the ‘traditional’ options of LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), YouTube plus many more platforms. However, your ideal customer may only be found on one of these platforms – identify the most fitting platform and post about how you can help.
There’s an ongoing debate on whether a website is needed – the choice is yours, after all, it’s said that most people will look at a website before making a purchasing decision. Can you relate?

Use your communications to nurture
Once you’ve found your ideal customer, you really want to keep their attention engaged.
Promote an incentive on your website or social media – sign up to the mailing list to receive news, offers or promotions. Quite often this is a free download (that shares your knowledge and helps their ‘pain point’ in some way).
Activating an automated email response that offers information or even a discount is a great asset for business. This can continue your marketing communications journey to share offers, new products or services, or ask for reviews after a purchase.
Using your social media channels, make that connection with them. If they’ve commented on a post, reply. Or reach out via mail to start up a conversation, and see what it was that made your business stand out.
Use multiple communication methods
Whilst we recommend not putting all your eggs in one social media basket, we do encourage the benefits of email marketing alongside any activity.
In recent months, there have been social media outages, prompting many to use Email Marketing to capture the attention whilst social media is offline. Plus you can set up reminder emails or monitor the number of people that engage with your emails.
Feature a sign-up box on your website, generating more enquiries from those who have browsed to your website.
Don’t be afraid to try something new
Diverse from time to time, or regularly, into other marketing communication methods.
Use LinkedIn newsletters to reach people outside of your LinkedIn following. LinkedIn newsletters are fantastic as they can generate views through website searches alone.
Use local advertising to raise your profile.
Collaborate with another business to reach a new audience.
Or book a stand at an event and get face to face with your future customers.

In Summary
The main point of marketing communication is to get your message across in the best way. In front of the most fitting people. And we can help you achieve this.
- Review your processes at least once a year, and ideally have a yearly plan mapped out.
- Strategise your approach, your messages and your visual message.
- Analyse the results of each channel, what works, what doesn’t and improvements you can make.
