Marketing for Serviced Accommodation Hosts
My first client appeared on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed as a host.
There’s something about seeing someone you know on TV, but another adrenaline rush when you see things that you’ve made appear on the big screen!

Back in 2020, mid-pandemic, I began my business and my first client was property developer, mentor and author Pam Bunbury Lindsay who was in mid-renovation of King Square Apartments, a Grade II listed building in Somerset.
The building became 5 beautiful boutique apartments and I loved the decor and personality of the building (thanks to the very talented interior design of Carol Borrett Interior Design!
During our time together, I helped to write press releases, the website copy, and social media and designed the Welcome Book (as seen on Channel 4).

King Square Apartments project included a full social media package, PR, website review and creation of a bespoke welcome pack for guests.

Introduction to accommodation
Little did I know that this would start a journey working with accommodation providers across the UK.
It was the welcome book that drew the attention of hosts – not only did it save money on a monthly online subscription, but it promoted the property, area and local businesses in a printed book – and in 2020, it was printed in a laminated, wipe downable, format so it could stay hygienic between guests.
A few things I’ve learned over the last three years.
- Hosts are focused on direct bookings – ie, they are booked on their website, avoiding OTA commission charges from well-known third-party sites.
- Communication is a major focus – it helps to build trust with the guest, before, during and after their stay.
- Hosts help each other where they can. Quite often accommodating contractors or travelling business people, it is good to have somewhere to recommend for the next destination.
